José Redondo
Non Executive Member
José Redondo completed a degree in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (1983) and holds a Master's in Economics with a specialisation in Industrial and Business Economics (1993) from the same University.
He joined Bial in 1986 and has been a Member of the Board of Directors of Bial Holding, S.A. and several Bial Group companies - since 1993 in executive roles until April 2025, and thereafter as a Non-Executive Member.
At the time he ceased his executive functions, José was Executive Vice-President of Finance & Operations, responsible for Finance, Management Control, Industrial, Quality, Supply Chain, Sustainability, and Continuous Improvement, and was CFO of the Bial Group. He had previously held, among other positions, that of General Manager of Finance & Operations (2021-2023), General Manager of the Financial and Industrial Area (2019-2021), General Manager of the Bial Portugal Area (2007-2019), General Manager of the Bial International Area (2001-2007), Executive Vice-President of Bial Spain (1998-2007), and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (1991-1998). Early in his career at Bial, he was also responsible for the Planning Office (1990) and worked as a Specialist in the Economic Advisory Office (1985-1989).
He taught at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto from 1983 to 1997, covering several subjects in the Economics course (Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Currency and Financing, International Monetary Economics) and in Management (Organisational Structures).
In 1983-1984, he worked at ICEP (now AICEP), in the export incentives department and in sectoral support to companies (paper and pulp).
He is currently also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of IBMC (Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology) and of i3S (Institute for Research and Innovation in Health - an association that brings together three institutes: IBMC, INEB - Institute of Biomedical Engineering, and IPATIMUP - Institute of Molecular Pathology); a Member of the Board of APGEI (Portuguese Association of Industrial Management and Engineering) since 2015; a Member of the Health, Prevention and Well-Being Council of CIP (Business Confederation of Portugal); Vice-Chairman of AEBA (Baixo Ave Business Association) since 2020; and Member of the General Council (since 2023) and Vice-President (since May 2025) of AEP (Portuguese Business Association). He was a Member of the Board of APIFARMA (Portuguese Pharmaceutical Industry Association) from 2017 until May 2025.
As of September 2025, he will also be a Guest Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (FEP-UP).
